ESTOP Button

As popularity for the show and traffic has continued to grow year over year, this facilitated the need to have an easy way to stop the show in case of an emergency. We added a physical stop button in 2024 to suppliment our radio integration and manually triggering it from the user interface.

The Pi Pico runs a custom written Python script to report the status of the ESTOP button and door via MQTT. In addition, when the ESTOP is activated it automatically sends MQTT commands to both the primary and secondary players to start the ESTOP playlist. To be able to monitor the health of the player, it automatically sends a heatbeat message every 60 seconds.
